Chief Information Officer Position Description:
The Chief Information Officer is the leader of IT across the hospital and clinics. The organization views this as a key position that will drive innovation forward, looking toward the future of patient-led healthcare. The CIO provides management direction and leadership for IT systems development, analysis and design, programming, implementation and acquisition of computer and communications equipment. The CIO acts as the Information Security Officer responsible for HIPAA Security compliance. Responsibilities: The CIO provides leadership for IT strategy and planning, budgeting, data integrity, and information security. The Chief Information Officer will have direct supervision over Ambulatory EMR Manager, Acute EMR Manager, Applications Manager, Operations Manager and Cybersecurity. The IT department has a total staff of 16, three of which are direct report managers. The CIO also serves as the chief security officer for the hospital, and will maintain HIPPA privacy standards with information encountered through the course of job functions. Serving as the main contact person and working directly with hardware and software vendors, the CIO will ensure the needs and contract requirements of Wood County Hospital are being met.  
Qualifications:
Required:
  • Minimum of ten years previous experience as a senior executive in a healthcare information technology division with a strong track record of success.
  • Candidates should have previous supervisory experience, be able to effectively communicate with both experienced and inexperienced users, be able to take a broad overview of the computer functions at Wood County Hospital, and be able to evaluate future needs and trends in the area of computers.
  • Professional attributes should include strong leadership experiences, vendor management and negotiation skills, ability to develop and deliver a strategic technical vision, and an ability to get things done with limited resources.
  • Personal attributes should include a collaborative management style, desire to work within a family and community oriented work culture, and a team player mentality.
  Desired:
  • A Bachelor’s degree is highly desired.
  • Cerner experience is highly desired.
  • Strong technical skills will differentiate the best candidates.
  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS) and Certified in Healthcare Privacy and Security (CHPS) preferred.
