Director, Enterprise Data & Analytics Job Overview

The Director, Enterprise Data and Analytics develops the vision, strategy and provides operational leadership for Vidant Health’s data and analytics program.

As a highly visible and impactful role reporting to the Chief Information Officer, the Director fosters collaborative partnerships with technology, clinical and business teams across the organization to understand and deliver on the broad information needs necessary to support Vidant’s strategic objectives and operational imperatives.

Through routine, direct engagement with senior clinical and administrative leadership, the Director’s team supports the development of actionable insights and provides a critical linkage between the strategies of both analytics and the organization to achieve breakthrough performance for all Vidant Health stakeholders.

The Director develops and drives the roadmap for the data and analytics program with the overarching goal to transform and modernize Vidant’s analytics strategy, and to provide solutions that empower stakeholders to quickly answer questions and gain insights. The roadmap will include plans for reporting and visualizations as well as the appropriate underlying data architecture, governance, analytics, and technologies.

The Director is accountable for leading the continuous development of advanced analytics capabilities, service delivery, and uncovering drivers of business and clinical operations and performance. The Director strives to identify opportunities to eliminate duplication of effort and streamline the way our stakeholders consume data and information in a way that establishes a new framework of data governance standards for the organization.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ year’s experience in an analytics leadership/management role
  • Strong passion for a data driven culture; embraces a federated model for enterprise analytics
  • 3+ years of healthcare experience
  • Solid technology leadership skills
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Familiarity with data governance and security/privacy compliance including clinical research
  • Experience with data access tools such as: SQL, SAS, R, or Python
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree

The Director may elect to live in surrounding areas, including Raleigh, but will be on-site part of the time.

VP, Clinical Informatics Job Overview:

Blending strategy, team building, and mentorship, the VP, Clinical Informatics at Vidant Health will drive a variety of technology projects across all care settings to enable the health systems digital transformation strategies. Current initiatives include value-based care, patient and clinical team member experience, quality improvement, capacity management, and precision medicine.

As a dynamic executive leader, the VP of Clinical Informatics will partner with operations to help grow and deliver on the strategic roadmap, prioritize projects, set organizational expectations, and “get into the weeds” when needed.

The VP of Clinical Informatics will report to the CIO and collaborate with the CMIO, IT leaders, as well as the nursing and clinical leadership teams.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Nursing or related clinical discipline
  • Current RN or other clinical licensure required
  • Informatics certification (ANCC Nursing Informatics or CPHIMS)
  • Minimum seven years progressive informatics leadership experience, preferably in large multi-facility health system
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex informatics solutions to clinical and executive audiences
  • Demonstrated understanding of business operations and clinical workflows
  • Ability to multi-task and manage complex issues with executive stakeholders in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Doctorate in Nursing Practice or Informatics
  • Professional publication experience
  • Epic experience highly preferred
  • Organizational change management experience
  • Participation in application of AI such as predictive models, precision medicine, or pharmacogenomics

Director, IS Population & Analytics job at Vidant Health

 

Position Description:

The Information Services (IS) Director of Population Health and Analytics is a seasoned clinical and business professional who has significant subject matter experience in defining and developing analytic and population health strategies that align with organizational strategic priorities. The position requires a high level understanding of healthcare financing, as well as health care delivery and the ability to think strategically and offer innovative solutions to complex challenges. The IS Director of Analytics and Population Health has overall responsibility for vendor management, as related to population health technology tools, and ensures alignment of tools to achieve maximum ROI. The IS Director works with the CIO, CMIO, VP of Clinical Informatics, as well as other executive leaders, to strengthen and develop population health strategies to improve value based outcomes, patient experience of care, and cost of care delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Partners with executive leadership in defining and developing the overall IS population health, supporting analytics strategy, and associated performance reporting to drive success in population health outcomes, patient experience, and cost of care delivery.
  • Liaises with operational leaders to support operational analytics, tools, and dashboards to support efficient, high quality, and cost effective patient care and improvements in outcomes.
  • Responsible for forming key partnerships both internally with key business partners, as well as externally, with state and national partners as related to population health initiatives.
  • Ensures key decisions that are necessary for a successful population and analytics strategy are clearly defined, vetted, and executed with key stakeholders and governance.
  • Stays abreast of present and emerging market trends as related to population health, and brings this information forward into actionable planning and improvement initiatives.
  • Defines the governance and prioritization infrastructure to support population health analytics, and collaborates with clinical leaders, quality, finance, and marketing across the system.
  • Responsible for vendor management, as related to population health tools, and ensures alignment of tools to achieve maximum ROI.
  • Advises on turning data into action, monitors the effectiveness of the use of data in context to the overall population and analytics strategy, as well as the impact on performance of value-based payment arrangements.
  • Serves as a highly visible leader, colleague and mentor, providing leadership, direction, and education across the system as it relates to analytics and population health.
  • Partners with VH leadership to create alliances as related to population health and analytics; obtains support and respect from diverse groups and fosters an understanding and commitment to VH population and analytics strategy.
  • Defines key operational readiness activities to ensure success of a population health program, and works with VH leadership to ensure understanding of the necessary drivers for success.
  • Defines analytics initiatives in support of transforming care and driving value in Value Based payment and incentive programs.
  • Collaborates with the IS leadership and business partners to promote and sustain a culture of access to data, where end users have timely, trustworthy, and accurate intelligence through self-service or analytics tools consistent with the organizations strategic priorities, resources, and governance.
  • Oversees inventory management of existing and new reports that support organizational strategic priorities, and leads the management of requests and prioritization efforts.
  • Develops professional credibility across the system; Gains respect and builds relationships that support population health, both internally and externally.
