Associate Chief Medical Information Officer Position Overview

As an innovator in clinical informatics, Bassett Healthcare Network seeks new ways to improve clinician efficiency, reduce burnout, and increase telehealth use.

Bassett is adding an Associate Chief Medical Informatics Officer (ACMIO) to support the high volume of clinical innovation projects on the horizon. This position is a unique opportunity because the ACMIO’s aptitude and interest can partly shape the role.

The ACMIO will report to the Chief Medical Informatics and Innovation Officer/Associate Chief Clinical Officer. This individual will be one of two ACMIOs working to align clinical priorities with Bassett’s strategic mission.

The new ACMIO will serve as a liaison between clinicians and Information Services, which is outsourced to Optum. Collectively, these teams will continue to optimize patient safety, outcomes, and patient experiences.

A vital responsibility of the ACMIO will be providing more physician support as Bassett invests in clinical technology such as AI-assisted notes.

Culturally, Bassett is a friendly organization that welcomes people with open arms. They appreciate diverse thoughts and opinions on informatics.

The position can also provide the opportunity for growth to a CMIO (Chief Medical Information Officer) role since the person currently in that position serves multiple roles.

About the Team:

Informatics is a highly dynamic and integral part of Bassett. Due to their large geographic area, Bassett has been heavily involved in telehealth prior to the pandemic.

The informatics team has two informaticists who will report to this position.

Much of the ACMIOs support will be from a close relationship with the Optum CIO and their IT team as well as with Bassett’s first CNIO.

There are two other individuals in telehealth that would possibly report to this ACMIO.
