Position Overview

Under the direction of the MHN Chief Information Officer, the IT Director of Enterprise Applications oversees the resources dedicated to building, enhancing, testing, converting, maintaining, and upgrading solutions for all clinical, business, and revenue cycle systems across a multi-facility integrated health system.

This role supervises IT Application Managers, Supervisors, and Analysts, including clinical, financial, and interface analysts for each application and functional area, and ensures their integration with all other applications and functional areas throughout the implementation phase and product life.

The IT Director also serves as an advisor to MHN executive and departmental leaders concerning the application of computing techniques to meet the mission and vision of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Governance

  • Create and communicate a clear vision for Information Services

  • Lead strategy and design for standardizing applications across hospitals, practices, and departments in the merged enterprise

  • Build governance structures and foster a strong service culture rooted in trust and respect

Application and Systems Management

  • Oversee design, implementation, support, and lifecycle management of clinical, business, and revenue cycle applications (Oracle Health EHR and Infor ERP)

  • Ensure reliable system performance, minimal downtime, and appropriate response times

  • Plan and support new system implementations, acquisitions, conversions, and department or facility builds

  • Supervise ongoing maintenance support, enhancements, and defect resolution processes

Team Leadership and Development

  • Supervise and develop IT Application Managers, Supervisors, and Analysts

  • Coach, mentor, and motivate staff and contractors to deliver high-quality solutions and services

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build productive relationships with physicians, nursing, marketing, education, and other departments

  • Partner with clinical and financial leaders to align IT solutions with operational needs

  • Analyze workflows and requirements with department stakeholders to optimize system use

Financial, Vendor, and Performance Management

  • Develop and monitor budgets, business cases, and financial projections

  • Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and performance to ensure high-quality service delivery

Change, Training, and Continuous Improvement

  • Oversee change management and testing processes, including unit, integration, system, and acceptance testing

  • Lead development and delivery of training programs and end user education

  • Evaluate trends and documented resolutions to prevent recurring issues and drive process improvements

  • Continuously seek improvement in customer satisfaction through feedback collection, analysis, and improvement planning

Compliance and Professional Standards

  • Adhere to MHN policies, standards of conduct, and applicable laws and regulations

  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA patient privacy and security regulations

  • Model accountability, composure under pressure, and commitment to continuous learning and professional growth


Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Master’s degree preferred

Experience

  • 5 to 10 years of position-related experience required, 10 or more years preferred

  • Cerner, Oracle, or similar health system EMR or EHR experience required

  • At least 10 years of progressive management experience in a large integrated healthcare system

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with information systems in a clinical setting

  • Working knowledge of clinical software build and configuration, operational support, and maintenance
