Position Overview
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) will be responsible for establishing the current and long-range direction of the health information technology infrastructure and support services for the organization.
The CTO will provide technical advice, guidance, direction, and oversee the implementation of an enterprise-wide IT strategic roadmap that includes design, implementation, marketing, and maintenance of technology projects or product lines. The CTO will have strong leadership skills with the ability to identify gaps and deliver tangible ideas. The CTO must be solutions-oriented, patient-centered, and have high executive presence.
Key Responsibilities

Provide strategic and operational leadership for MLH’s IT infrastructure, setting the technical vision and ensuring reliable, cost-effective systems and support

Partner with senior leaders and stakeholders—including Operational Presidents, Web Services, Clinical Engineering, and Facilities—to align technology infrastructure with organizational goals and standards

Develop and execute a long-term technology strategy in collaboration with IT leadership, aligned with MLH’s overall strategic direction

Oversee the planning, implementation, quality, risk management, and status reporting of all infrastructure projects, including upgrades, new initiatives, and ongoing support

Manage project resources, budgets, and vendor contracts, ensuring adherence to best practices, governance standards, and cost models for capital and replacement cycles

Advise senior leadership on emerging technologies and strategic investments to maintain a competitive edge

Serve as a liaison to hospital executives and corporate divisions, fostering collaboration and ensuring technology supports enterprise-wide priorities

Represent MLH within the broader technology community, providing visible leadership and promoting the organization’s technology vision

Qualifications
Required Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business, or Healthcare Management
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in IT, infrastructure, software lifecycles, asset management, and data management strategies.
- 5+ years of progressive leadership experience
- Proven ability to develop and manage multiple high-performing technical teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s or Doctorate degree in Information Systems, Healthcare Administration, Clinical Healthcare field, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience working in a large, multi-facility health system
Note: Relocation or residency within a commutable distance from Memphis, TN is required.
