Senior Director, IT Strategy & Project Planning Position Description:

The Senior Director, IT Strategy & Project Planning position is a new position within the Sentara Healthcare Information Technology department that will lead a distributive PMO. The scope of the PMO will include the four regional medical groups, corporate services, the health plan, and the Sentara Healthcare enterprise. Serving on the IT leadership team, this individual will continue the standing up of the PMO.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain an appropriate organizational structure capable of supporting the PMO governance including master scheduling, status, risk, and prioritization
  • Provide strategic leadership to elevate the PMO to the next level (PMO 1.0 is in place and is functioning well)
  • Continue to refine internal governance for intake of project requests and process for vetting potential projects
  • Publish detailed monthly status reports that serve as the “single source of truth” on each of the projects (there are approximately 200 current projects)
  • Provide the strategy for cost optimization, IT resource management, and synchronizing with other leaders in the organization
  • Lead contract management and change management
  • Effectively manage a team of approximately 25 people including 10-14 PMs

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field required
  • Master’s Degree in Technology or Business Admin preferred
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in technology operations management
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience working in the healthcare industry
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in strategic technology planning, and execution
