Essentia Health utilizes Epic as its electronic health record. The new Chief Medical Information Officer will replace a long-standing and highly admired and respected CMIO who is retiring.

Essentia Health is accredited as an Accountable Care Organization by the National Committee for Quality Assurance.
CMIO Job Overview:
The Essentia Health CMIO is a leadership partner for integration of information technology into clinical practice and research, to promote the highest possible quality, safety and evidence-based patient care.
This physician will collaborate with key clinical leaders, such as the CMOs, market executives, CNIO, and the VP of Clinical applications to drive the successful adoption of clinical informatics tools and technology.
Minimum Qualifications:
- MD or DO
- Board certified in a clinical specialty
- Strong leadership skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior CMIO experience strongly preferred
- Certification or degree in informatics
- Epic experience strongly preferred
- Experience in rural health
- Experience in telehealth

CIO Job Overview:
The Essentia Health CIO is responsible for leadership, vision, and setting strategic direction for Information Technology Systems & Electronic Records. By identifying opportunities and implementing change, the CIO will lead IT to deliver reliability to the organization and support the mission, vision and goals of Essentia.
The CIO will support business process owners, drive value from IT investments, contribute to the overall business strategy and have responsibility for process change management. The CIO also will orchestrate the flow of information, foster the integration of systems, ensure the integrity of data and monitor for redundancy. This person must also have the vision to match business and organizational needs to the appropriate information and technology platforms, and ensure the continuity and integration of systems that support the future growth of the enterprise.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 15+ years experience in technology
- 10+ years experience in senior leadership
- Healthcare experience, preferably leading technology in a multi-hospital system
- Strong leadership skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree
- IDN experience
- Epic experience
- ACO and value based care experience
- Rural Healthcare experience, a value based care background, and telehealth will be candidate differentiators
