Phoenix Children's Hospital has retained Kirby Partners to conduct a nationwide executive search for their Vice President, Clinical Systems position.
Phoenix Children's Hospital is one of the largest pediatric healthcare systems in the country and the most comprehensive children’s care facility in Arizona. They provide inpatient, outpatient, trauma and emergency care across more than 75 subspecialties. In the last three decades, Phoenix Children’s has grown from a single hospital to 41 sites of service statewide.
Vice President, Clinical Systems Position Overview:
Phoenix Children’s current Vice President, Clinical Systems is retiring after being part of the system for over 25 years, creating a vacancy in this key leadership role. The new VP, Clinical Systems will continue partnering with executive leadership, physician leaders, and clinicians throughout the organization who are striving to provide the best possible care for their patients.  The retiring VP says candidates should be very excited about the important role this position will play in making Phoenix Children’s a leader in pediatric medicine. Phoenix Children’s has built an exceptional employee culture of strong performers who live their mission and there is significant tenure within the organization. The Information Technology Department is a 125-person highly dynamic and integral part of Phoenix Children’s operations, enabling clinical and operational excellence, as well as serving as a vital strategic partner in changing the world of 21st century healthcare.  Phoenix Children’s utilizes Allscripts Sunrise as its electronic health record. Key upcoming milestones are the construction of a new womens and children’s hospital that will open in 2020, a new free-standing emergency department site, and important initiatives in data, analytics and population health. The Vice President, Clinical Systems, reports to the CIO and is responsible for the strategic and day-to-day operations of the IT clinical applications area. Areas of oversight include the EHR group, a clinical applications department (radiology, cardiology, lab, etc), and an optimization team. This Vice President oversees approximately 40 employees and is responsible for multi-million dollar capital and operating budgets. The Vice President of Infrastructure is a peer of this position. The VP, Clinical Systems will work closely with the CMIO and associate CMIO.
Qualifications
Phoenix Children’s seeks a dynamic and visionary leader, adept at dealing with challenging, fast-paced environments, who embraces moving vision to reality.  To be successful, this VP, Clinical Systems will need to be a collaborator who is able to drive change, lead, grow and mentor a team, and communicate the vision of IT technology in a consistent and persuasive manner. Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 10 years of clinical applications management experience
  • Strong clinical applications management background
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree
  • Allscripts Sunrise experience
Note: Relocation to the Phoenix area is required for this position; a relocation package is offered.
